Texas Teacher Fired After Telling Students He Thinks His Race ‘Is The Superior One’

A middle school teacher in Pflugerville, Texas, has been fired just after a movie taken in his course showed him telling pupils that he thinks his race “is the excellent just one.”

The teacher, who is white and whose name has not been made public, was employed at Bohls Center School, but was put on administrative leave right after the video clip went viral.

On Monday, Douglas Killian, superintendent of the Pflugerville Independent University District, said the instructor “is no longer employed” by the district and that the district “is actively searching for a alternative,” according to Austin Fox affiliate KTBC.

A video taken by a student demonstrates the teacher telling learners that “deep down in my heart, I am ethnocentric, which implies I feel my race is the superior a single,” according to Austin NBC affiliate KXAN.

“I imagine most people thinks that,” the instructor says in the movie. “They’re just not honest about it.”

The father of 1 of the college students shared the video clip on Instagram, creating: “I’m so indignant I’m reduction for phrases but I will stand up for my little one and the other black and Spanish kings and queens in this online video.”

In the statement saying the teacher’s termination, Killian apologized on behalf of the district, indicating that “this dialogue does not align with our core beliefs and is not a reflection of our district or our society at Bohls Middle Faculty.” He wrote that the dialogue “was inappropriate, inaccurate, and unacceptable.”

Killian said in his assertion that counselors and directors are “available for any of our learners and people who want to explore this situation more.”
