Jim Lauro Brewster, 84, beloved spouse, father, grandfather, and baby of God, died on August 19 right after a lengthy fight with most cancers.

Jim was born in Pharr, Texas to Lauro Falcon Brewster and Ofelia Villarreal Brewster. He graduated from PSJA Higher School in 1956 and went on to generate a B.S., a Master’s in counseling, and a Master’s in Administration, all from Pan American College.

Jim satisfied the really like of his existence, Keta, for the duration of their childhood and devoted 63 decades to their marriage. With each other they lifted four kids: Janice, Laura, Jim Jr., and Jennifer.

Jim was an elementary faculty teacher in the PSJA College District. He taught at each Farias and Buckner Elementary colleges. After leaving the classroom, he labored as an elementary faculty counselor at Doedyn’s Elementary College for more than twenty a long time. A productive and respected educator, Jim experienced a lot of previous pupils who arrived back again to thank him in excess of the yrs. He routinely came throughout students who recognized and approached him where ever he went. Jim was also a happy supporter of PSJA ISD athletics in which he and spouse Keta have had football season tickets for 65 consecutive many years.

Jim will endlessly be remembered for his assistance to his neighborhood. He served as a Pharr Metropolis Commissioner for 12 yrs and as Mayor Pro Tem. He was also energetic in Pharr Industrial Basis, Bridge Board, Amigos del Valle, Pharr Economic Progress Company, Good friends of the Pharr Memorial Library, Pharr Dawn Kiwanis, and the Board of Line and Adjustment. Of his contributions to the neighborhood, Jim was most very pleased of his do the job in furthering the development of the City of Pharr and in assisting establish the Pharr International Bridge. Jim was also happy of his support to our country serving in the Nationwide Guard and the Army as a tank commander.

Jim was also a gentleman of excellent religion. He was trustworthy member of La Trinidad United Methodist Church in Pharr. He served as the church’s treasurer for 40 years and also served as a youth counselor and a Trustee.

Jim is survived by his wife, Keta Brewster his 4 little ones: Janice Brewster (Cliff) Martinez, Laura Brewster (Scott Clear), Jim (Melissa) Brewster Jr, and Jennifer Brewster eight grandchildren: Matthew Brewster Martinez, Michael Brewster Martinez, David Brewster-Acosta, Rachel (Brewster) Apparent, Victoria Brewster-Martinez, Jordan Brewster, Jake Brewster, and Jim Brewster III as perfectly as a lot of nieces, nephews, and extended relatives associates.

Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. service Monday, August 23, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Household in San Juan. Funeral services took spot at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at La Trinidad United Methodist Church in Pharr. Interment followed at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
